Questions and answers

Is Sneinton Family Dental Centre taking on new NHS patients?

Yes — we are currently registering new NHS and private patients from Sneinton and the surrounding parts of east Nottingham. NHS places can come and go across the city, so it is worth getting in touch sooner rather than later. Call 0115 924 2526 or use our contact form to register.

Whereabouts in Sneinton are you, and how do I get there?

We are at 2 Colwick Rd, Nottingham NG2 4BU, on the riverside side of Sneinton near Meadow Lane and the A612. Nottingham City Transport buses serve the area, and Nottingham railway station is a short journey away, with Netherfield and Carlton stations to the east.

Is there parking nearby?

Colwick Road and the streets around it are largely residential, so some on-street parking can usually be found close by. It is always worth checking local restrictions before you leave the car, and buses and trains are a handy alternative if you would rather not drive.

How much does NHS dental treatment cost?

NHS charges in England for 2026 fall into three bands. Band 1 (£27.90) covers an examination, diagnosis and advice, including any X-rays and a scale and polish where needed. Band 2 (£76.60) covers fillings, extractions and root canal work. Band 3 (£332.10) covers crowns, dentures and bridges. Some patients are exempt from charges.

What happens at my first appointment?

Your dentist will take a full history, examine your teeth, gums and soft tissues, and take any X-rays that are needed. You will get a clear explanation of anything they find, along with an agreed plan and costs, before any treatment begins.

I feel anxious about seeing the dentist — can you help?

You are far from alone, and we look after many nervous patients. Let us know when you book and we can allow extra time, talk you through each step and never rush you. Easing back into regular check-ups usually makes future visits feel much more manageable.

What should I do in a dental emergency?

If you have severe toothache, swelling or a broken tooth, call us early in the day on 0115 924 2526 so we can try to see you as soon as possible. When the practice is closed, call NHS 111 and they will direct you to the nearest urgent dental service covering the Nottingham area.

Which areas do you look after?

We are a local practice for Sneinton Dale, Sneinton Hermitage, Bakersfield, Colwick and Netherfield, and we welcome patients from right across east Nottingham and the city centre.

Do you offer private treatments such as teeth whitening or Invisalign?

Yes. Alongside NHS care we provide private options including professional teeth whitening, Invisalign clear aligners and dental implants. Call 0115 924 2526 or request an appointment and we will talk through what would suit you.
